click to enlarge In Caldwell County, blackberries are a part of every day life – children beg to go pick from the wild berries lining every bank and mothers take what isn’t eaten during the day for cobblers. Blackberry cobblers and jam are a strong part of local heritage. The North Carolina Blackberry Festival offers summer fun to all visitors – without the chiggers!

Killdeer Farms will be on hand during the day with fresh blackberries for sale, along with other blackberry items. Arts and crafts, a variety of food vendors will be available. Local restaurants will also be open. Following the "Colossal Parade Brigade," FREE BLACKBERRY COBBLER is available, while supplies last. Please join us... It will be a BERRY good time!

Vendors with handcrafted merchandise, jewelry, furniture, crafts, multicultural items, pottery, etc. are preferred. Commercial vendors are accepted on a limited basis and are mixed in with other vendors. Food vendor applications will be accepted until May 30, 2014 and all other vendors until June 30, 2014. Vendors will receive an acceptance email confirmation as soon as all paperwork has been processed. Additional information regarding necessary details for attending the festival will be posted in July.

Caldwell Musician Stage
On Saturday, a wide selection of music will hit the main stage beginning at 1:00 p.m. For further information contact Zack Carter with the City of Lenoir at 828-757-2197.
Parking Lot Pickin'
Register NOW! Friday night, July 11th, Main Stage Downtown Lenoir, 7:00 p.m. Musicians (acoustic performances only) are invited to enter the “Parking Lot Pickin’” to be judged for CASH PRIZES. Registration is helpful, but not required. You can register early by calling the Chamber at 828-726-0616. On Saturday, the winner will have an opportunity to take main stage as the last performance of the festival. Sponsors and 1st, 2nd, & 3rd prize money will be announced at a later date.

Blackberry Princess
The Blackberry Princess Pageant takes place on Main Stage at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. Rising kindergartners to rising third graders, will compete for the crown in two divisions. Casual or Sunday dress only. No pageant wear or makeup will be allowed. Participants are judged based on appearance, personality and a simple interview. Recipe Contests
Adult and Youth Categories Friday evening, July 11, 7:00 p.m. bring your prepared entry to THE WINE CELLAR & BISTRO, 128 Main Street, Lenoir 5:30 p.m.. Pre-registration is required and a copy of your recipe MUST be turned in with your registration form no later than Thursday, July 10th, at the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce. Winners will be announced and CASH PRIZES will be presented at the NC Blackberry Festival on Saturday, July 12th. This event is sponsored by Sunny Ridge Farms, Wine Cellar & Bistro, Corner Creamery, Highland Coffee House and Caldwell Chamber of Commerce. Jams and Jellies THE CALDWELL COUNTY FARMERS MARKET sponsors a separate competition on Friday night as well for Jams and Jellies only. This takes place simultaneously with the Adult and Youth competitions on Friday night at the WINE CELLAR AND BISTRO on the square in Lenoir.

Blackberry Eating Contest
The first 10 people to register at the Chamber of Commerce Information Tent for the Blackberry Eating Contest are in for a real treat. Lineberger Farms sponsors the contest by providing a container of blackberries to each participant and the fastest mouth wins! The winner receives a cash prize, along with a goodie pack from the Chamber of Commerce. Not to mention the glory!
Jam and Jelly Recipe Contest
Presentation of Colors: Noon
The Lenoir Fire Department has helped us honor our country with the Presentation of Colors at noon each year. Take off your hats and join us for this moment of reverance.
The World's Largest Patchwork of Blackberry Cobbler
While supplies last! Over 1,500 servings of homemade blackberry cobbler will be distributed FREE on the square following the parade.

The Colossal Cobbler Parade Brigade
WE NEED YOUR HELP! We need you and your friends to carry or pull wagons/carts filled with cobblers made by local cooks from across our county. We encourage everyone to wear your uniforms or t-shirts to promote your organization's participation in the event. This is a wonderful community service project for clubs and individuals to consider.

A children’s area, sponsored by the Caldwell County 4H Programs with the NC Cooperative Extension Service will offer free fun throughout the day near Town Hall behind the clock, on the Square.

Blackberry Shuffle 5K and Fun Run
The SHELTER HOME OF CALDWELL COUNTY will kick off the early Saturday morning activities by sponsoring a 5K run at 8:00 a.m. and a Fun Run beginning at 8:30 a.m. So put on your running shoes and let’s get out there and support this wonderful organization.
